Meet Tracy Jones
Tracy Jones was raised in Rochelle, Illinois, and graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 2000. She attended Northern Illinois University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003. Tracy received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly known as the UIC John Marshall Law School) in May of 2006 where she was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, and the Law Women’s Caucus. While pursuing her law degree, she worked as a judicial clerk for Chief Judge Donald C. Hudson as well as other circuit and associate judges in the 16th Judicial Circuit.
Tracy Jones calls Rockford home, and she's been proudly representing the people of northern Illinois right here in her own backyard every day, for the past 13 years.
Tracy began working for The Law Office of Jim Black & Associates in May 2006. Upon being sworn in to practice law by the Illinois Supreme Court in November 2006, she moved into the role of an Associate Attorney. In January 2014, Tracy became the managing attorney at the firm. Then in January 2015, she became an Owner/Partner of the firm after which the name of the firm changed to Black & Jones, Attorneys at Law.
Meet Jim Black
Though now retired, our founding partner, Jim Black, fought for the rights of injured workers and people with disabilities in the Rockford area for over 35 years. A Rockford native, Jim attended Rock Valley College and the University of Illinois where he graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree in 1976. After working as a social worker in the Rockford community from 1976-1982, he attended St. Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, MO. He began practicing law in the St. Louis area in 1985 before returning to the Rockford area in 1987 where he focused his practice in workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability, and personal injury since 1991.
Jim founded The Law Office of Jim Black & Associates in August 2000. In January 2015, he, along with Tracy Jones, formed Black & Jones Attorneys at Law. With his tenacious attitude, he served thousands of injured workers throughout northern Illinois and provided legal services to more workers’ compensation clients than any other attorney in northwestern Illinois. Jim’s legacy of dedication and compassion representing injured workers is ingrained in the fabric of what makes up Black & Jones—which works tirelessly to see that the people we represent receive what they deserve.
Jim, along with his wife, enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and flying—while continuing to make memories with his children and grandchildren.
